Citalá is a small community in the mountains of El Salvador, known for its beauty and close-knit, caring people. But its isolated location brings challenges—such as limited education and few job opportunities. Our mission is to show Christ’s love and help bridge the gap to hope and opportunity.

Mission

We seek the Kingdom of Heaven in rural El Salvador by cultivating spiritual and educational growth, encouraging healthy hobbies and life skills, and opening doors of advancement for current and future generations.

SPORTS MINISTRY

Sports have a powerful way of breaking down walls and building community. We use them not just for fun, but to guide kids toward healthy habits—and away from trouble they might otherwise find. Through clinics and community tournaments, we help instill values like discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Sports continually prove to be a tool God uses to transform lives and bring people together.

LIFE DEVELOPMENT CENTER

“CREA” Creation (Creación), Restoration (Restauración), Hope (Esperanza), Love (Amor) has a double meaning in Spanish. It could be used to mean “create” and it could also be used to mean “believe”. This is a reflection of what we hope to foster for the community of Citalá. We want this to be a space where people can feel God’s love, and freedom to create something great for themselves and their community.

Reading Time

C.R.E.A is home to the only library within a two-hour radius, offering students a peaceful space to unwind and escape into the world of books. Along with building literacy, reading time opens doors to places, ideas, and possibilities the students might never otherwise encounter. It brings the world to rural Citalá, nurturing imagination, inspiring dreams, and fostering empathy through stories different from their own.

Jugando Aprendo

“I learn by playing” is a hands-on class designed for our youngest students. Through activities such as story time, games, and guided play, children develop foundational skills in a joyful and nurturing environment. This class helps build social skills, motor skills, and begin to feel comfortable in a classroom environment, setting them up for success in school and English classes when the time is right.

ENGLISH CLASSES

In El Salvador, speaking English opens doors to life-changing opportunities, but access is limited, especially in rural areas like Citalá. We offer free classes for children and adults, equipping them with a valuable skill while building meaningful relationships. More than language lessons, these classes create space for connection, confidence, and sharing the love and hope of Jesus through everyday interactions.

Workshops

We periodically offer educational and creative workshops that foster community, encourage healthy habits, and provide meaningful outlets for self-expression. From personal hygiene sessions that challenge taboos to painting workshops that spark creativity, each experience is designed with intention. Though many of our students are young, they often carry heavy burdens, and these workshops offer a safe, positive way to release stress and explore new interests.

BIBLE STUDY

While Christianity is widespread in El Salvador, it is often shaped more by legalism and obligation than by a personal relationship with Jesus rooted in love and grace. Growth Group provides adults with a space to explore Scripture, challenge misconceptions they’ve been taught about God, and deepen their understanding of what it truly means to walk with Christ while growing in Christian community.
